Prices checked October 2026.
Anry, Triple Whale and Google Analytics 4 are the tools that show, per Meta ad, what that ad's visitors did after the click. Anry also prices the spend on visits that bought nothing, counted in your store's orders, Triple Whale shows bounce rate and session time per ad, and GA4 gives a rougher version for free if every ad carries its own utm_content.
Each entry was checked on the vendor's own pages on 30 October 2026.
What actually matters when you judge a Meta ad
- The ad platform's report stops when the page loads. Meta's landing page views goal finds "people who are most likely to click on and load your chosen landing page" (Meta Marketing API).
- Per ad, not per campaign. Two ads in one ad set can look alike in Ads Manager and behave nothing alike on your store.
- Two numbers per ad. How many visitors left at once, and what a visitor who stayed cost you.
- Whose count of sales. Shopify's "Any click" model "allocates more credit than orders you've received" (Shopify Help). Counting in your store's orders keeps the total equal to what you sold.
The 8 tools, ranked on that one question
1. Anry: what each ad's visitors did, and what it cost
Anry follows each Meta or Google ad click to the visit and the order. Ask it in Claude, Claude Code or Cursor ("Ask Anry which of my Meta ads wasted money last month") and its MCP server answers per ad: spend, the visits tied to the ad, what those visitors did, and sales in your store's orders, one ad per sale. Each session has a replay link (MCP docs).
Our own account, from get_campaign_spend and list_sessions: two short video ads in one Meta campaign, same audience (US and Australia), same landing page, 22 to 30 October 2026. Only the ad differs. Amounts are in A$, our ad account's currency, and anry.io sells software, so these are visits, not orders.
| Ad | Spend | Clicks Meta reported | Visits Anry tied to the ad | Left within 5s | Stayed 30s+ | Spend per 30s+ visit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A story about a store owner | A$228.02 | 121 | 137 | 42% | 43 | A$5.30 |
| The agent answering with a fix | A$408.51 | 133 | 97 | 25% | 39 | A$10.47 |
- Meta reported the two ads as near-equals: 121 and 133 clicks.
- After the click, 42% of the story ad's visitors were gone within 5 seconds, against 25% for the agent video.
- The story ad still bought visits that stayed 30 seconds or more for about half the price: A$5.30 each against A$10.47.
- So the cheap ad bought more instant exits and cheaper engaged visitors. You need both numbers per ad to judge it, and the ad platform's report has neither.
Neither ad is "the waste". The answer lives after the click, per ad. (Before counting, we removed by hand 27 launch-day visits from Meta's crawlers across the campaign's four ads.)
On a store, Anry also says which countries, devices and hours of the day of an ad brought visitors who engaged worse than comparable visitors and bought nothing, prices that spend, and writes the cut as a paste-ready list naming the one platform action and its level. You apply it in Ads Manager, yourself or with Claude Code or Cursor through Meta's own MCP. Anry itself never changes your ads.
- Price: one plan with every feature, billed monthly, free trial with no card (pricing).
- The catch: no audience-level cuts (audience, interest, age and lookalike stay in Ads Manager), no multi-touch attribution models, and it reads Meta and Google Ads only.
2. Triple Whale: per-ad bounce rate next to attribution
Triple Whale's attribution dashboard carries pixel bounce rate, average session duration and page views (Triple Whale help), and its docs call ads "the lowest level where Pixel uniqueness is calculated" (Triple Whale docs). Read the definitions first: any single-page session is a bounce, and average time skips bounced sessions. A one-minute read of your landing page counts the same as a two-second exit.
- Price: free plan with first- and last-click attribution. Foundation is $219 a month on a 12-month subscription (Shopify App Store, pricing).
- When Triple Whale is still the better choice: you want multi-touch attribution across many channels in one dashboard. More in Triple Whale alternatives.
3. Google Analytics 4 with utm_content: the free route
GA4's Session manual ad content dimension reads utm_content (Analytics Help). Put utm_content={{ad.name}} in each Meta ad's URL parameters and Meta fills in the ad's name at the click (Meta Business Help). An exploration by that dimension shows engagement rate and purchases per ad. A session counts as engaged after 10 seconds, a key event or 2 page views (Analytics Help).
- The catch: purchases are GA4 events, which won't match your Shopify orders exactly (Shopify Help), and Meta spend only appears if you import it (Analytics Help).
- When GA4 is still the better choice: you run a handful of ads and "engaged or not" per ad is enough.
4. PixlBridge: a per-ad funnel, new this month
PixlBridge sends your Shopify visits and sales to Meta through the Conversions API and shows ROAS, CPA and CTR "for every campaign, ad set and ad" (PixlBridge). Its "Why no sale?" view walks an ad from link clicks to landing page views, adds to cart and purchases, and names the step where people drop. No time on page or scroll per ad.
- Price: $79 a month with a 14-day trial. It launched on the Shopify App Store on 14 October 2026 and had no reviews on 30 October (Shopify App Store).
- When PixlBridge is still the better choice: Meta is your only channel and you want Conversions API tracking, per-ad ROAS and AI ad images in one app.
5. Northbeam: visits per ad, built for big budgets
Northbeam's Sales page sorts down to the ad level (Northbeam docs). Per ad: pixel visits, new visits, cost per visit and ECR, transactions over visits (Metrics 101). Its metric list has no time on site or scroll.
- Price: Starter shows $1,500 for brands spending under $1.5M a year on ads (Northbeam pricing).
- When Northbeam is still the better choice: heavy spend across many channels, where you need multi-touch and view-through credit. See Northbeam alternatives.
6. Microsoft Clarity with utm_content: watch one ad's visitors for free
Clarity's traffic filters cover utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, not utm_content (Microsoft Learn). The workaround is an Entry URL filter set to "Contains" your utm_content value, since path filters match the query string (Microsoft Learn). That gives you one ad's recordings and heatmaps, free (Clarity FAQ).
- The catch: Clarity links Google and Microsoft ad accounts, not Meta, so there's no spend (Microsoft Learn). Lucky Orange has a UTM filter too (Lucky Orange help), from $19 a month (Shopify App Store).
- When Clarity is still the better choice: you suspect one ad and want to watch why its visitors leave. Paid options are in heatmap tools for Shopify.
7. Polar Analytics: sessions stitched to orders, inside a BI suite
The Polar Pixel, sold as an add-on, "captures every on-site session and order" and credits revenue across ten attribution models (Polar). We found no per-ad engagement view on its public pages.
- Price: Core from $750 a month on the Shopify App Store and $720 on Polar's own page, based on GMV (Shopify App Store, Polar pricing).
- When Polar is still the better choice: you want one governed BI layer for every metric. See Polar Analytics alternatives.
8. Attribix: store-order attribution for $49
Attribix "starts from the real orders in your store and counts each one once", then checks each campaign's cost per sale against your ROAS goal (Attribix). It shows which ads earned each sale, not what their visitors did. Visitor paths come only with Pro, at $149.
- Price: $49 a month, 7-day trial. It launched on the Shopify App Store on 28 May 2026 and had no reviews on 30 October (Shopify App Store).
- When Attribix is still the better choice: you want cheap Meta and Google attribution on your store's orders.
How to choose
- A few Meta ads, no budget: GA4 with utm_content, plus Clarity to watch the sessions.
- Already on Triple Whale: use its ad-level pixel columns first.
- You want the cost and the cut: Anry. The slices to cut are in how to find wasted Meta ad spend on Shopify.
- Many channels, big budget: Northbeam or Polar for credit, plus a behavior tool (analytics tools by job).
Where Anry fits
Anry answers one narrow question: which ad's money bought visits that left, and what that cost in your own orders. It writes the cut, and you or your agent apply it. If a GA4 exploration already tells your two ads apart, you don't need it. If clicks aren't turning into sales at all, start with Meta ads getting clicks but no sales.
Frequently asked questions
Can Meta Ads Manager show which ads send visitors who don't buy?
Partly. Per ad, it shows link clicks, landing page views and the purchases Meta credits to the ad, and you can break results down by placement. It stops once the page loads.
How do I tag Meta ads so each visit carries the ad's name?
Add utm_content={{ad.name}} in the ad's URL parameters field. Set it before launch, because changing URL parameters later can send the ad set back into learning (Meta Business Help).
Why don't Meta's clicks match the visits on my store?
The platform counts the click, and Anry counts the visit that arrived. Our story ad got 121 clicks and 137 visits Anry tied to it, the agent video 133 and 97.
Do post-purchase surveys show which ads send visitors who don't buy?
Not per ad. Zigpoll asks buyers "How did you hear about us?" and runs exit-intent surveys on why shoppers don't buy, free for 50 responses a month (Shopify App Store). The answers come from people, not from an ad ID.
Can Shopify's own reports show it?
Shopify's marketing reports give sessions, orders, conversion rate and ROAS by channel and campaign. Its acquisition reports show visitors but not sales (Shopify Help). Neither shows what one ad's visitors did.
Can Anry exclude an audience that doesn't buy?
No. Anry shows which countries, devices and hours of an ad bought visits that left without buying. The audience choice stays in Ads Manager.
