Why people look for Northbeam alternatives

Northbeam is built for brands that spend a lot across many channels and run experiments to decide where the next dollar goes. That's who its own FAQ says it's for (Northbeam pricing). Stores look elsewhere for four reasons.

  • The entry price is an estimate. Starter shows $1,500 under a "Contact us for a quote" button, for brands spending less than $1.5M a year on ads. Northbeam explains that your monthly price "is informed by the volume of data in your business (measured in pageviews)", so the first number is where the conversation starts.
  • Month-to-month only covers Shopify on Starter. The FAQ says Starter is month-to-month "for Shopify brands that are in the early growth stage". Any other platform, or a bigger brand, goes to Professional or Enterprise, which are annual terms. Professional is $3,500 a month, and it's the first plan that lists integration with "any ecommerce platform". A WooCommerce store starts there.
  • The MMM is an add-on at the top. Media Mix Modeling+ is marked optional on Enterprise only. Incrementality is optional on Professional and Enterprise. If MMM is the reason you shortlisted Northbeam, you're looking at a custom Enterprise quote, and Northbeam recommends Enterprise once you spend more than $250,000 a month.
  • The numbers differ from Meta's on purpose. Northbeam's FAQ answers "Will my ad performance look different in Northbeam?" with "Yes, by design." That's the product working. For a small team it also means a third set of numbers next to Ads Manager and Shopify. A blended number like MER, total revenue over total marketing spend, is a simpler check that needs no model.

And there's a reason that isn't about Northbeam. Attribution answers which ad gets credit for the orders you got. A lot of stores have a different problem: plenty of clicks, few orders, and no idea where the visitors drop. That's a site question, and we cover it in more depth in Shopify traffic but no sales.

The 6 best Northbeam alternatives

1. Anry: for seeing where paid traffic dies on the site

Northbeam decides which channel gets credit for an order. Anry looks at the visitors who never placed one. It matches every Meta or Google click with the session it started and the order, if there was one, then shows where those visitors gave up (a page, a device, an ad aimed at the wrong crowd) and what each drop-off cost, counted from your store's orders rather than from a platform's model. No AI picks the leaks. Deterministic code does the finding and the pricing, and an LLM only writes the explanation and the fix. Your agent reads it all in Claude, Claude Code or Cursor over a remote MCP whose 16 tools are read-only, and the fix is handed to that agent. Anry has no way to change your store, ads or settings.

We ran into this on our own Meta ads, where a cheap-looking campaign brought clicks and nothing for a model to attribute. The details are in Meta ads getting clicks but no sales.

  • Best for: stores on Shopify, WooCommerce or PrestaShop where attribution already names the ad that gets credit, but not why so few of its clicks turn into orders.
  • Price: starts at a fraction of Northbeam's Starter. It's priced by traffic, every plan gets every feature, billing is monthly, and the free trial needs no card (Anry pricing).
  • The catch: no MMM, no incrementality tests, and it judges Meta and Google only. If you need TV, podcast or TikTok in the same model, look at Rockerbox or Meridian.

2. Triple Whale: the closest swap for Shopify brands

Triple Whale gives you a pixel, multi-touch attribution and dashboards built around Shopify. The free plan has first and last click with a 12-month lookback. Foundation adds multi-touch attribution and a read-only MCP that "cannot change anything in your business, ad accounts, campaigns, budgets" (Triple Whale help). We covered setting up that MCP in Claude separately.

  • Best for: Shopify brands that want most of Northbeam's daily attribution view at a fraction of the price.
  • Price: free, then Foundation from $219 a month or $2,190 a year at the lowest GMV band, Automate from $749 (Shopify App Store).
  • The catch: paid plans are 12-month subscriptions and the price rises with GMV (Triple Whale pricing). MMM and incrementality sit in Enterprise, inside Compass (Triple Whale help). We compared the cheaper routes out of Triple Whale in Triple Whale alternatives.

3. Polar Analytics: for one source of truth across tools

Polar is Shopify-first BI on a semantic layer, so the dashboard, your analyst and Claude all read the same definitions. It's an official Claude connector (Polar MCP).

  • Best for: brands whose real pain is five tools disagreeing, more than attribution itself.
  • Price: $750 a month, "based on online GMV", with discounts on annual terms (Shopify App Store).
  • The catch: half Northbeam's entry price is still $750 a month, and the final number comes from a demo.

4. ThoughtMetric: multi-touch attribution for $99

ThoughtMetric is the cheapest real MTA tool on this list. Pricing is "based on monthly pageviews. Every feature included, nothing gated. No enterprise contracts required." The $99 tier covers 25,000 pageviews a month, with five attribution models, server-side tagging, a conversion API, customer surveys and Claude and ChatGPT connectors (ThoughtMetric pricing).

  • Best for: stores under $1.5M a year in ad spend that want Northbeam-style attribution without a sales call.
  • Price: $99 a month at 25K pageviews, monthly or annual (two months free), 14-day trial.
  • The catch: the price follows pageviews, not sessions, so check your monthly pageviews before you assume $99. No MMM.

5. Rockerbox: MTA, MMM and testing under one roof

Rockerbox sells a data foundation plus three analysis methods: multi-touch attribution, marketing mix modeling and incrementality testing, with testing offered as a fully managed service (Rockerbox plans). DoubleVerify agreed to buy it for $85 million in February 2025 (Business Wire).

  • Best for: brands that want MMM and incrementality, which Northbeam keeps for its top plans, from one vendor.
  • Price: not published. Its /pricing page returns a 404 and the plans page leads to a demo.
  • The catch: you won't know the cost until you've sat through a sales process, and it's built for brands with complex channel mixes.

6. Google Meridian: the free way to run an MMM

Meridian is "an open-source MMM built by Google" (Google for Developers). The code is on GitHub, the getting-started guide is a notebook, and Meridian GeoX lets you run geo experiments to calibrate the model. Google also lists Meridian partners if you'd rather not run it in-house.

  • Best for: brands that want MMM and have, or can hire, someone comfortable in Python and statistics.
  • Price: free. Your cost is the analyst's time or a partner's fee.
  • The catch: it's a model, not a product. No pixel, no daily dashboard, and the output is only as good as the spend history you feed it.

When Northbeam is still the better choice

Stay with Northbeam, or pick it, if you spend heavily across several channels and run your growth as experiments, which is the buyer its FAQ describes. It's the better choice when you need view-through conversions credited without a click (its C+DV feature), first-party data sent back to the ad algorithms (Apex), and a dedicated media strategist from Professional up. And if you spend more than $250K a month and want MMM+ and incrementality on top of daily attribution from one vendor, Enterprise does all three in one place. The cheaper tools above each cover a slice of that.

How to choose

  • Under $1.5M a year in ad spend, Shopify: ThoughtMetric or Triple Whale for attribution. Add Anry if clicks aren't turning into orders.
  • WooCommerce or PrestaShop store: Northbeam starts at $3,500 a month on annual terms for you. ThoughtMetric supports all major platforms, and Anry covers Shopify, WooCommerce and PrestaShop.
  • You want MMM, not daily attribution: try Meridian with an analyst first. If you'd rather buy it, compare Rockerbox, Triple Whale Enterprise and Northbeam Enterprise quotes side by side.
  • ROAS dropped and you don't know why: check the site before you buy a model. Our ROAS drop checklist has the order we use.
  • Agency with several stores: Anry is one login across every store, which saves a lot of switching.

Where Anry fits

Anry sits next to attribution, not instead of it. Attribution splits the credit for the orders you got. Anry looks at the ones you didn't: which ad's visitors dropped, on what page and device, and the cost of that, then it passes the fix to your agent. If you already know your site converts well and your question is how to split budget across eight channels, you don't need Anry. You need an MMM.

Only as an option on Enterprise, where it's called Media Mix Modeling+. Incrementality is an option on Professional and Enterprise. Starter and Growth are multi-touch attribution and dashboards.

Is Northbeam month-to-month?

Starter is month-to-month for Shopify brands. Professional and Enterprise are annual terms, billed annually or semi-annually depending on the agreement.
