Why people look for Polar alternatives

Polar is a strong BI tool built for Shopify, rated 4.9 from 116 reviews on the App Store. The reasons to look elsewhere are mostly about cost and fit.

  • The entry price. Polar's own pricing page shows the Core plan at $720 a month, and the Shopify App Store lists it at $750, "based on online GMV" (Polar pricing, Shopify App Store). Core bundles BI, AI agents and data activations. Bought one by one on the same page, Business Intelligence is $510 a month and Klaviyo Audiences $390.
  • The price moves with GMV, and the bands aren't public. Every plan ends in "Book a demo". Eightx put Core at about $1,020 a month for brands doing $5M to $7M, using a grid from Conjura that it calls a third-party estimate, since Conjura competes with Polar (Eightx). One Trustpilot reviewer wrote that the price shown when installing from Shopify was "completely different" from what sales quoted afterwards (Trustpilot). That's one review out of three, but it's worth settling on the demo call.
  • The AI part is sold separately if you only want that. Polar Headless MCP, for teams that just want their data in Claude or ChatGPT, is listed at $1,500 a month, or $1,000 for the first three months. It's included in Core.
  • A BI layer needs someone to read it. A dedicated Snowflake database, a semantic layer with 400+ metrics, SQL access as an add-on. That's the whole point of Polar, and for a two-person store it's often more data platform than anyone has time to use. If that's you, start with the free and cheap analytics tools, sorted by job.

There's also one gap more BI won't close. None of the products on Polar's pricing page (BI, incrementality testing, Klaviyo Audiences, Advertising Signals, AI agents) is a session replay or heatmap tool. Nothing there shows how a visitor used the page between the ad click and leaving.

The 7 best Polar alternatives

1. Anry: for when the ads bring visitors and the site loses them

Anry starts where a dashboard stops. Polar's charts tell you a blended number went down; Anry looks at the paid visits behind it. It links each Meta or Google click to its session and its order, if any, then spots the places paid traffic drains out (a landing page, a device, an ad reaching the wrong audience) and prices each one using orders from your store, not platform-reported conversions. Finding and pricing run on deterministic code. The only AI step is a language model writing up the explanation and the fix.

A blended ROAS chart can only tell you Meta isn't paying back. A split by source tells you where to look first, the ads or the page. Our own Meta ads showed us the difference, and Meta ads getting clicks but no sales covers what we found.

You ask in Claude, Claude Code or Cursor. get_traffic_sources gives the split by source, get_paid_waste_summary sums up paid spend that went nowhere, and get_session opens a single visit. It's a remote, read-only MCP with 16 tools, so none of them can change your store, campaigns or ads. Your own agent gets the fix ("Ask Anry").

  • Best for: stores paying for Meta or Google traffic, on Shopify, WooCommerce or PrestaShop, that need the leak itself more than another chart.
  • Price: starts at a fraction of Polar's Core, with nothing held back for a higher tier. Billing is monthly and the free trial skips the card (pricing).
  • The catch: no dashboards to build, no warehouse, no SQL and no multi-touch attribution. If you're leaving Polar for cheaper BI, Anry won't replace it. Plenty of stores run it next to a BI tool.

2. Triple Whale: the closest swap, cheaper to start

Triple Whale covers most of what a Shopify brand uses Polar for: a blended dashboard, multi-touch attribution, cohorts, custom dashboards and an AI agent called Moby. Its MCP is read-only and "cannot change anything in your business, ad accounts, campaigns, budgets" (Triple Whale help).

  • Best for: brands that want Polar's kind of dashboard and a free plan to try it on.
  • Price: free, then Foundation $219 a month ($2,190 a year) and Automate $749 at the lowest GMV band, rated 4.1 from 93 reviews (Shopify App Store).
  • The catch: "Foundation, Automate, and Enterprise are 12-month subscriptions", even if you pay monthly (Triple Whale pricing). Unused Moby usage doesn't roll over. The full list of reasons people leave it is in our Triple Whale alternatives post.

3. Daasity: for brands that also sell on Amazon and in retail

Daasity models ecommerce, Amazon, retail and marketing data together, and it can drop its models into a Snowflake setup you already have. Its homepage mentions an MCP server on top (Daasity).

  • Best for: omnichannel brands with wholesale or retail numbers and someone in-house who works with data.
  • Price: $1,899 a month, usage-based on the annualised rolling 3-month average of your total revenue, with a 14-day trial. Rated 4.6 from 52 reviews (Shopify App Store).
  • The catch: it costs more than Polar's Core and suits brands with a data person. For a DTC-only Shopify store, it's a lot of platform.

4. Northbeam: if attribution is why you bought Polar

Northbeam is attribution first: multi-touch, plus MMM and incrementality on the bigger plans. Its MCP is on every plan (Northbeam docs).

  • Best for: brands with serious spend across Meta, Google and other channels that want a second opinion on what each one drives.
  • Price: $1,500 a month on Starter, which covers brands spending under $1.5M a year on ads and runs month-to-month on Shopify. Professional is $3,500 and annual. Both scale with pageviews (Northbeam pricing).
  • The catch: about twice Polar's entry price, and the plans are built around ad spend, not the inventory and merchandising reports Polar also covers. If the price is the sticking point, see the cheaper Northbeam alternatives.

5. Peel Insights: retention analytics without the data platform

Peel is built for repeat purchase: cohorts, RFM, LTV, CAC and subscription analytics, with 150+ metrics and ready-made templates (Shopify App Store). Its pricing page lists Snowflake data access on every plan (Peel pricing).

  • Best for: subscription and consumables brands whose growth depends on the second order.
  • Price: Core $199 a month for up to 6k orders and 3 stores ($179 a month billed yearly), Essentials $499, Accelerate $899. 7-day trial with no card. Rated 5.0 from 38 reviews.
  • The catch: it reads ad spend for CAC but isn't an attribution tool, and we couldn't find an MCP.

6. Lifetimely: profit and LTV from $0

Lifetimely (by AMP) gives you a daily P&L, cohorts and a predictive LTV model on its free plan. Paid plans add its Profit Agent and the Lifetimely MCP (Shopify App Store).

  • Best for: stores whose real question is margin, not channel credit.
  • Price: free, then S $49 a month (500 orders), M $149 (3,000) and L $299 (7,000). Amazon data is $75 a month extra. 14-day trial, rated 4.9 from 565 reviews.
  • The catch: the MCP loads a snapshot of your store when the session starts, valid for up to four hours, so you reconnect for fresh numbers (AMP help).

7. Data Studio + Windsor.ai: build the BI yourself

Google renamed Looker Studio back to Data Studio on 11 April 2026, and the core product is still free (Google Cloud). Add a connector such as Windsor.ai to pull Shopify, Meta and Google into it, or into BigQuery, Sheets or Snowflake.

  • Best for: a founder or analyst who likes building dashboards and wants Polar's charts without Polar's bill.
  • Price: Data Studio is free. Windsor.ai Basic is $19 a month billed yearly ($23 monthly) for 3 data sources, and Standard $99 ($118) for 7. Windsor's MCP for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity is on every plan (Windsor.ai pricing).
  • The catch: you define CAC, ROAS and contribution margin yourself, then keep them right. That's exactly the work Polar's semantic layer does for you.

When Polar is still the better choice

Stay with Polar if you want a real BI layer: custom dashboards for every team, your own Snowflake database with SQL on top, and metrics defined once so finance, marketing and your AI agent agree on what CAC means. Stay if you pull from many sources (Polar says 45+ through its MCP and 50+ into the warehouse) and don't want to hire a data engineer to blend them (Polar data warehouse). And stay if you'll use the extras: incrementality tests run with a data scientist, Klaviyo Audiences, server-side conversions to Meta and Google, and the Polar Operator in Slack, which acts on your ads only after you approve (Polar Operator). For a team that lives in dashboards, that set is hard to rebuild cheaper.

How to choose

  • Same thing, smaller bill: Triple Whale from $219 a month if a 12-month term is fine. Data Studio plus Windsor.ai if someone on the team enjoys building reports.
  • Under $1M a year: Lifetimely's free plan for profit, plus Anry once paid clicks make up most of your visits and few of them buy.
  • Subscription or repeat-purchase brand: Peel.
  • Amazon and retail on top of DTC: Daasity.
  • Heavy multi-channel spend: Northbeam for attribution, and Anry for what paid visitors do once they land. If your ROAS fell and you can't tell why, our ROAS drop guide walks through the checks.
  • Agency with many stores: Anry bills each client store on its own band, and you reach all of them from one login (agencies).

Where Anry fits

Anry won't stand in for Polar's dashboards or warehouse. It covers the short stretch between the ad and the order: which campaign's visitors bailed, on what page and device, and what that cost you in orders. Then your agent gets the fix, and Anry never touches the store or the ads. If you don't buy traffic, or your question is contribution margin by SKU, skip Anry and buy a BI or profit tool.

Frequently asked questions

What's the cheapest Polar Analytics alternative?

Data Studio is free, and so is Lifetimely's starter plan. Windsor.ai's connector starts at $19 a month billed yearly. For a hosted all-in-one dashboard, Triple Whale has a free plan, then Foundation at $219 a month on a 12-month term.

How much does Polar Analytics cost?

Polar's pricing page shows Core at $720 a month before you pick a GMV band, and the Shopify App Store lists $750, based on online GMV with annual discounts. Bigger brands pay more, and the bands are quoted on a demo.

Does Polar Analytics have an MCP server?

Yes. Polar MCP works in Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients, and it's included in Core. On its own it's sold as Headless MCP, with a 7-day free trial (Polar MCP).

Is Polar Analytics worth it in 2026?

It is if your team will use the BI layer every week: the warehouse, the custom dashboards, the shared metric definitions. If you mainly want to know why paid traffic isn't converting, or nobody has time to build reports, a cheaper tool will cover it.

Is Polar better than Triple Whale?

They overlap a lot. Polar leans harder into the data platform (your own Snowflake, a semantic layer, SQL access). Triple Whale is cheaper to start, with a free plan, but its paid plans are 12-month subscriptions. Both price by GMV and both connect to Claude.
