What the Triple Whale MCP does
It lets an AI tool outside Triple Whale "query and analyze your real-time Triple Whale data" (Triple Whale Help). Revenue, ROAS, spend, attribution, channel against channel, week against week, without exporting a CSV. It's read-only. Triple Whale says it "cannot change anything in your business, ad accounts, campaigns, budgets, or Triple Whale account."
The part the directory listings skip: in Claude, Moby does the answering. Triple Whale's Claude guide says your questions "are sent to Triple Whale so Moby can answer them", and lists Moby usage on your plan as a requirement (Triple Whale Help). That usage is a monthly allotment. Answering data questions draws on it, it resets each month and doesn't roll over (Triple Whale Help), and at 100% Moby's work pauses until you top up (Triple Whale Help).
Triple Whale doesn't publish the tool list. The server asks you to sign in before it shows one.
Which "Triple Whale MCP" is which
Most search results still describe an older, local server: the npm package @triplewhale/mcp-server-triplewhale, run with Node and an API key, with tools like get_blended_stats (mcp.so). Its GitHub repo returned a 404 when we checked on 21 October 2026, and Triple Whale's help center only documents the hosted server. Use the URL above.
Moby or the MCP
| Triple Whale MCP | Moby | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Your AI tool: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor | Inside Triple Whale and Slack |
| Reads your Triple Whale data | Yes | Yes |
| Changes ads, budgets or campaigns | No | Yes on Automate, within your approval settings |
| Automations | Only ones you build in your own tool | Built in, on Automate |
| Landing pages and creative | Drafts in your tool, never published | Builds and publishes them |
| Plans | Foundation and up | Free to try, more on paid plans |
Triple Whale puts it in one line: "Triple Whale MCP gives external AI tools access to your data. Moby helps you take action on that data" (Triple Whale Help). What Moby can do on each plan is on its pricing page.
Before you start
- A paid plan. Foundation is $219 a month, or $2,190 a year, at the lowest GMV band (Shopify App Store). The price rises with your GMV, and Foundation, Automate and Enterprise are all 12-month subscriptions, even when billed monthly (Triple Whale pricing). If that term is the sticking point, we compared cheaper tools that also connect to Claude.
- Moby usage left this month. Check it under Settings, then Plans and Payment, then AI Usage.
- A Triple Whale user with access to the business you'll ask about.
- A Claude plan with custom connectors. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds the connector for the organization first (Claude Help).
- A legacy plan works sometimes. If you used the previous MCP connection, Triple Whale says your access may still be on. Otherwise, ask your account team (Triple Whale Help).
Set it up in Claude
Triple Whale's own steps, from its August 2026 guide (Triple Whale Help):
- In Claude, open Settings, then Customize, then Connectors.
- Click Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Triple Whale, paste
https://mcp.triplewhale.com/v1/mcpand click Continue. - Keep the detected OAuth settings, click Add, then Connect.
- Sign in to Triple Whale, pick the business and click Allow.
- In a new chat, ask: "Summarize yesterday's performance, including revenue, orders, spend, and ROAS." A real answer means it works.
To remove it, open Settings, then Connectors, click Triple Whale and Disconnect.
Claude Code
If you log in to Claude Code with your Claude account, the connector you just added is already there. Run /mcp and look for it in the claude.ai section (Claude Code docs).
Triple Whale doesn't document Claude Code itself. Its server does publish standard OAuth discovery with dynamic client registration (we checked on 21 October 2026), which is what Claude Code's own sign-in relies on. To add it directly:
claude mcp add --transport http triple-whale https://mcp.triplewhale.com/v1/mcp
Then run /mcp and sign in.
Cursor
Triple Whale's docs give Cursor the API-key route. In Triple Whale, open the APIs page, click Generate API Key, choose the MCP: Read type and copy the key. Add this to Cursor's mcp.json, with your key in place of YOUR_API_KEY (Triple Whale Help):
{
"mcpServers": {
"moby": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"mcp-remote",
"https://mcp.triplewhale.com/v1/mcp",
"--header",
"x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY"
]
}
}
}
The key sits in a plain file, so keep it out of anything you commit. Cursor can also sign in to remote servers with OAuth (Cursor docs), and Triple Whale says to prefer OAuth wherever a tool supports it.
ChatGPT works too, as a custom app on a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace (Triple Whale Help). Who can add one is covered in our ChatGPT for Shopify guide.
What to ask once it's connected
Say which attribution model you want, since Foundation has several. If Claude asks for a business ID, give your store's domain: "For my-store.myshopify.com, what was revenue yesterday?"
- "What was blended ROAS last week by channel, against the week before?"
- "Which Meta campaigns lost the most ROAS this week, and did their spend change?"
- "Compare Meta and Google spend this month, and the revenue each one returned."
- "Which products brought the most new-customer revenue in the last 30 days?"
- "Using last-click, which channel got credit for the most new-customer orders this month?"
What it answers, and what it doesn't
Triple Whale is built to answer one question well: which channel earned the order. Its pixel and multi-touch models give each sale a source, and the MCP brings that into Claude. For blended ROAS, spend by channel and revenue trends, it's the right tool.
It says less about what happened between the click and the order. Triple Whale's pixel counts sessions, bounce rate, pages per session and conversion rate (Triple Whale Help). I couldn't find anything in its docs on scroll depth, taps or session replays, or a dollar figure on the page where paid visitors drop off. The MCP can only hand Claude what Triple Whale records.
Here's what that gap looks like on our own site. Anry's heatmap of anry.io/shopify, up to 20 October 2026: half of visitors stopped scrolling by 100 px, and only 1 in 4 got past 700 px, on a page 7,408 px long. A session count and a bounce rate can't show you that. It tells you which page to fix before you touch the ads.
So run both, and send each question where it belongs:
| Question | Send it to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Blended ROAS by channel, this week vs last | Triple Whale | Its pixel and attribution models are built for it |
| Which channel gets credit under another attribution model | Triple Whale | Multi-touch models come with Foundation |
| Spend, delivery and results per ad, as Meta reports them | Meta's own MCP (setup) | Straight from the ad account |
| Which Meta or Google ad brings visits but no orders | Anry, get_campaign_spend | Puts each ad's spend next to the sessions and orders counted on your site |
| Which page leaks the most paid revenue, and how much | Anry, get_revenue_leaks and get_issue | Prices each leak in your store's own orders |
| What one paid visitor did before leaving | Anry, get_session | The visit, step by step |
| How far people scroll on a landing page | Anry, get_heatmap_summary | Clicks and scroll depth per page |
Anry sits next to Triple Whale in Claude Code with one line:
claude mcp add --transport http anry https://mcp.anry.io/mcp
Where Anry fits
Triple Whale tells you which channel to credit. Anry tells you where paid visitors leak out of the site and what each leak costs, counted in your store's orders rather than in what Meta or Google report. It's a read-only MCP with 16 tools for Claude, Claude Code and Cursor, and when it finds a leak, the fix goes to your own agent for you to approve. One plan with every feature, billed monthly, free trial with no card (pricing). If your paid traffic already converts the way you expect, Triple Whale's MCP is enough on its own.
Is it safe?
It's read-only by design. The OAuth route signs you in on Triple Whale's own page, is scoped to moby:read and can be revoked at any time. The API-key route is weaker: a key in a config file, which Triple Whale says never to share publicly. Either way, your questions go to Triple Whale, where Moby answers them. For the general rules on connecting servers like this one, see what an MCP server can and can't do.
Common errors and the fix
| Problem | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Claude asks for your business ID | It doesn't know which business to query | Put your store's domain in the question |
| Claude can't answer from Triple Whale data | Your user can't see that business, or Moby usage ran out | Check your access, then AI Usage under Settings |
| Your account has no MCP access | You're on the Free plan or an older plan | Foundation and up include it; legacy plans go through your account team |
| A guide says to install an npm package with an API key | That's the old local server | Use https://mcp.triplewhale.com/v1/mcp |
| The connector doesn't show in Claude Code | Claude Code isn't using your Claude login | Run /status, then /login with your Claude account |
Frequently asked questions
What is the Triple Whale MCP server URL?
https://mcp.triplewhale.com/v1/mcp. In Claude, add it as a custom connector and sign in with OAuth. Tools without OAuth use the same URL with an MCP: Read API key.
Is the Triple Whale MCP free?
No. It comes with Foundation, Automate and Enterprise, not the free plan. Foundation starts at $219 a month at the lowest GMV band, on a 12-month subscription.
Is Triple Whale Moby the same as the MCP?
No. Moby is the AI inside Triple Whale, and on Automate it can act: automations, ad changes, landing pages. The MCP is a read-only line from your Triple Whale data into Claude or another tool, and Moby answers what comes through it.
Can the Triple Whale MCP change my ads or budgets?
No. Triple Whale says it can't change your ad accounts, campaigns, budgets or Triple Whale account. Acting on the data is Moby's job.
Does the Triple Whale MCP work in Claude Code and Cursor?
Yes. Claude Code picks up the connector you added in Claude when you log in with the same account. For Cursor, Triple Whale documents an MCP: Read API key.
