Northbeam MCP: setup in Claude, Claude Code and Cursor

Northbeam's official MCP lives at mcp.northbeam.io. It's read-only, comes with every Northbeam plan and signs in with your Northbeam login. The setup, and what it can't see.

The Northbeam MCP is a hosted server at https://mcp.northbeam.io that you add to Claude as a custom connector, sign in to with your Northbeam login, and then ask about your attribution data in plain English.

What the Northbeam MCP does

It gives your AI the same types of information as the Northbeam dashboard: performance metrics, attribution data, orders and, if it's switched on, product-level attribution (Northbeam MCP FAQ). It's read-only: your assistant "cannot change anything in Northbeam" (Northbeam docs).

Data moves only when Claude asks. Each tool call fetches a small slice, like metrics for a date range or one order's details, with no background sync and no bulk export. For files or pipelines, Northbeam points you to its exports instead (Northbeam exports).

Northbeam doesn't publish the tool list. We called the server on 28 October 2026 and it answers 401 missing bearer token until you sign in.

Northbeam AI launched at the end of September 2026 (Touchpoint). It reads the dashboard you're in, answers how-to questions and files support tickets (Northbeam AI). Both come with every plan. The MCP is for asking from Claude, next to your other tools.

Which "Northbeam MCP" is which

Directories like mcp.so list a different server: a community project from March 2025 that runs locally with a Northbeam API key and six tools such as get_attribution (GitHub). It hasn't changed since the day it was published, and the npx northbeam-mcp command in its README finds no package on npm. Northbeam only documents the hosted server. Use the URL above.

Before you start

  • A Northbeam login with access to the dashboard you'll ask about. There's no free plan: Starter shows $1,500 under "Contact us for a quote", and the final monthly price follows your pageviews (Northbeam pricing). If that's the hurdle, we compared cheaper attribution tools.
  • Claude with custom connectors. They work on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, but Free allows only one custom connector (Claude Help).
  • On Claude Team or Enterprise, an Owner or Admin adds Northbeam for the organization first.

No API key needed.

Set it up in Claude

Northbeam's steps for an individual plan (Northbeam Claude guide), with Claude's current button names:

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Northbeam and paste https://mcp.northbeam.io. Keep the authentication settings Claude detects (Northbeam says to leave the advanced settings blank) and click Add.
  4. Sign in with your normal Northbeam login and finish the flow.
  5. Optional: set the read-only tools to Always allow.
  6. In a new chat, ask "Use Northbeam to list my dashboards." If your dashboards come back, it works.

On Team or Enterprise, the Owner adds the same name and URL under Organization settings, then Connectors. That only makes it available: each person still clicks Connect and signs in with their own Northbeam login.

Claude Code

Northbeam documents one command:

claude mcp add --scope user --transport http Northbeam https://mcp.northbeam.io

Open Claude Code, run /mcp, select Northbeam, choose Authenticate and sign in in the browser. Northbeam says a Failed to connect before that sign-in is expected.

If your organization added Northbeam in Claude, skip the command. It shows in /mcp as claude.ai Northbeam.

Cursor

Northbeam doesn't name Cursor, but says any tool that takes a custom connector works with the same URL and sign-in (Northbeam docs). Cursor signs in to remote servers with OAuth and registers itself when the server allows it (Cursor docs). Northbeam's does: on 28 October 2026 its OAuth discovery listed dynamic client registration and PKCE.

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (every project) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "northbeam": {
      "url": "https://mcp.northbeam.io"
    }
  }
}

Then sign in with your Northbeam login. This is Cursor's general route, not a Northbeam guide, and we haven't run it ourselves.

What to ask once it's connected

Northbeam's own examples are a good first test: "What was my Meta ROAS last week vs the prior week?", "Break down spend and revenue by platform for the last 30 days" and "Show me my top 10 orders by revenue this month." Then:

  • "Which campaigns lost the most ROAS week over week, and did their spend change?"
  • "Which products brought the most attributed revenue in the last 30 days?" (needs product-level attribution switched on)
  • "Which attribution model and window did that answer use?"

If you can see several dashboards, name the one you mean. Northbeam has seven attribution models, so the same question can give different numbers. Its own advice: "verify anything decision-critical against the dashboard, the same way you would a teammate's summary" (Northbeam docs).

What it can't answer on its own

Northbeam is built to decide which channel gets credit for the orders you got. It counts visits as well as clicks, and notes that "not all Clicks result in a Visit, so Visits are usually lower than in-platform Clicks" (Northbeam Metrics 101).

It stops at the page. The pixel records each visit, its touchpoint, the pages viewed, purchases and any custom goals you add (Northbeam Pixel). I found nothing in Northbeam's docs on scroll depth, taps or session replays, or a dollar figure for the page where paid visitors give up. The MCP can only pass on what Northbeam records.

Our own numbers show it. On our main Meta test campaign, 19 to 28 October 2026, we spent A$1.2K. Meta reported 479 clicks, and Anry tied 460 visits on anry.io to the campaign. The platform counts the click; Anry counts the visit that arrived. Nearly every click arrived, so the useful question was what those 460 people did on the page: how far they scrolled, what they tapped, where they left. A credit model has no answer for that. Anry reads exactly that part.

When Anry finds a leak, it writes the fix. Claude Code or Cursor applies it on the site, and changes to the ads go through the ad platform's own tools. Anry never pushes a change itself. It sits next to Northbeam in Claude Code with one line:

claude mcp add --transport http anry https://mcp.anry.io/mcp

Where Anry fits

Northbeam splits the credit for orders that happened. Anry looks at the paid visits that never became one: which page, device or ad lost them, and what that cost in your store's own orders. It's an MCP with 23 tools for Claude, Claude Code and Cursor, and costs a fraction of Northbeam's Starter: one plan, every feature, billed monthly, free trial with no card (pricing). If your paid visitors already buy the way you expect and your open question is budget across channels, Northbeam's MCP is enough.

Is it safe?

It's read-only and follows each user's Northbeam permissions, so Claude can't see more than you can. You sign in on Northbeam's page, with no key in a config file. Once data reaches Claude, your AI provider's policies apply, Northbeam's FAQ notes. To cut access, remove the connector under Customize, then Connectors. In Claude Code, removing the server also deletes its stored OAuth tokens (Claude Code docs). If you're comparing vendors, Triple Whale's MCP is also read-only, but it needs a paid plan and Moby usage left.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Northbeam MCP server URL?

https://mcp.northbeam.io. Add it as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT, or with claude mcp add in Claude Code, and sign in with your Northbeam login.

Is the Northbeam MCP included in every plan?

Yes, Growth, Starter, Professional and Enterprise all include it. There's no free plan, and Starter is listed at $1,500 before Northbeam quotes your final price.

Do I need a Northbeam API key?

No. The official server uses your normal Northbeam login. API keys are for Northbeam's Data Export API and the 2025 community server, not the official one.

Is Northbeam AI the same as the Northbeam MCP?

No. Northbeam AI is the assistant inside your dashboard, with a weekly usage limit, and it can change your own default attribution settings. The MCP is a read-only line from your Northbeam data to Claude, ChatGPT or another tool, and can't change anything in Northbeam.
