What the Klaviyo MCP does
Klaviyo's server lets an AI client read and work on your Klaviyo data, "from campaign creation to flow performance reports" (Klaviyo docs). Klaviyo announced it as generally available on 20 August 2025, with a remote server and "available to all Klaviyo customers" (Klaviyo newsroom). No separate fee is mentioned.
The tool count depends on how you connect, which confuses people:
- Claude's directory listing shows 27 tools (Claude).
- The
core-tools-onlysetting limits the server to about 40 core tools (Klaviyo docs). - The full list is over 260 tools across 24 categories (Klaviyo, available tools).
The core set, which covers what a store owner asks most:
| Area | Example tools | Read or write |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting | get_campaign_report, get_flow_report | Read |
| Campaigns | get_campaigns, create_campaign, assign_template_to_campaign_message | Both |
| Flows | get_flows, get_flow | Read |
| Metrics and events | get_metrics, query_metric_aggregates, get_events | Read |
| Lists and segments | get_lists, get_segments, get_segment | Read |
| Profiles | get_profiles, create_profile, update_profile, subscribe_profile_to_marketing, unsubscribe_profile_from_marketing | Both |
| Templates | create_email_template, clone_email_template, delete_email_template, render_email_template | Both |
| Catalog | get_catalog_items | Read |
Tool names are from Klaviyo's developer docs.
Drafts, and now sending
Klaviyo's own pages disagree on this. Its help center said in July 2026 that campaign creation works now and that scheduling and sending end to end was "expected to roll out in Q3 2026" (Klaviyo Help). Klaviyo's full developer tool list, checked on 20 October 2026, now includes send_campaign ("Send a campaign to its configured audience") and cancel_campaign_send, marked as available on the remote server (Klaviyo, available tools). The full list also creates and deletes flows, segments, lists and coupons.
So assume it can send unless you turn that off, as below.
Before you start
- A Klaviyo user with an Owner, Admin or Manager role. Other roles can't connect (Klaviyo docs).
- Decide read-only or not. The directory connector can't take URL settings, so read-only means a custom connector.
- The free claude.ai plan allows a single custom connector (Claude Help). Klaviyo says connecting several accounts needs a paid Claude plan or ChatGPT developer mode (Klaviyo Help).
- If you want to match email clicks to site visits later, turn on UTM tracking in Klaviyo now: Settings, Other, UTM tracking, "Automatically add UTM parameters to links". It's off by default (Klaviyo Help).
Set it up in Claude
- Go to Customize in Claude, open the Connectors page and press "+".
- For the quick route, browse the directory, find Klaviyo and click Connect. For read-only, choose "Add custom connector" instead.
- For a custom connector, name it "Klaviyo" (or "Klaviyo - Store name" if you have several accounts) and paste
https://mcp.klaviyo.com/mcp?read-only=true. Leave the parameter off if you want write tools. - Click Connect and approve access in Claude, then in Klaviyo.
- Start a new chat, click "+", choose Connectors, and turn on Klaviyo plus only what this question needs.
You can still control tools one by one in Claude. Klaviyo's own advice is to block, or always require approval for, every tool that can write or delete data (Klaviyo Help).
Claude Code
When Claude Code runs on your Claude account login, the connectors you added in Claude are already listed under /mcp (Claude Code docs). Klaviyo's docs don't give a Claude Code command. The standard remote form is:
claude mcp add --transport http klaviyo "https://mcp.klaviyo.com/mcp?read-only=true"
Then run /mcp and finish the Klaviyo login in your browser.
Cursor
Open Cursor Settings, then MCP, then New MCP Server, and add:
{
"mcpServers": {
"klaviyo": {
"url": "https://mcp.klaviyo.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Save, open Tools & Integrations, click "Needs login" and sign in (Klaviyo docs).
Local server
There's also a local version (uvx klaviyo-mcp-server@latest) that runs on a private API key, with READ_ONLY=true to switch writes off (Klaviyo docs). Use the remote one unless you have a reason not to.
What to ask once it's connected
- "Show my top five campaigns by revenue in the past 90 days." (Klaviyo's own example, Klaviyo blog.)
- "Compare my welcome, abandoned cart and browse abandonment flows: recipients, click rate and conversions last month."
- "Which segments shrank the most over the last 60 days?"
- "Which campaigns had a good click rate but few conversions?"
- "Draft a campaign for our new product to the engaged 90-day segment. Don't send it."
What it can't answer on its own
Every tool reads Klaviyo. Campaigns, flows, profiles, events, metrics. None of them sees your landing page: whether the people who clicked scrolled, tapped the size picker, or left in two seconds.
And Klaviyo's revenue is Klaviyo's count. On newer accounts it credits an order, by default, to the last email opened or clicked within 5 days, and opens include the ones Apple Mail Privacy Protection fires automatically (Klaviyo Help). That's a fair way to credit email. It's a different question from "what happened after the click".
That's the combined question worth asking: which email sent the most clicks, and did the page they landed on let them buy? A campaign with a great click rate that lands on a slow or broken page looks fine in Klaviyo. The leak is on the page. Abandoned checkout flows work the same way: the email can bring a buyer back, but the checkout settings that made them leave still need fixing.
To answer it, connect Anry next to Klaviyo. Anry doesn't read Klaviyo itself. It tracks each click through the visit to the order on your store, and with Klaviyo's UTM tags on, each email campaign shows up as its own source. Add it the same way:
claude mcp add --transport http anry https://mcp.anry.io/mcp
Then ask both at once. These are the calls the agent makes:
| Step | Server | Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Klaviyo | get_campaigns, get_campaign_report | Last week's campaigns, clicks and click rate |
| 2 | Anry | get_traffic_sources | Visitors, conversions and revenue per UTM campaign |
| 3 | Anry | list_sessions | The sessions from that campaign, filtered by landing page |
| 4 | Anry | get_heatmap_summary | How far those visitors scrolled and what they clicked |
| 5 | Anry | get_revenue_leaks, get_issue | Whether that page is already a priced leak, and the evidence by device and path |
Klaviyo tells you the email worked. Anry tells you whether the page did, and what the gap costs. We found the same pattern with paid traffic on our own site, a cheap Meta campaign whose visitors never touched the page.
Klaviyo MCP vs Anry vs a CSV export
| Klaviyo MCP | Anry MCP | CSV export into Claude | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Campaign and flow results | Yes, live, in Klaviyo's attribution | No | A snapshot |
| Visits and orders per email campaign | Only Klaviyo-attributed conversions | Yes, from UTM tags | No |
| Clickers' behavior on the page | No | Yes | No |
| Creates or changes things | Yes, unless read-only | No, read-only | No |
| Cost | No separate fee announced | Paid monthly, free trial with no card | Free |

For reporting and campaign drafts from a chat, Klaviyo's server covers it. Bring in Anry when the email clicks look fine and the orders don't.
Is it safe?
It's Klaviyo's own server, over OAuth, so no API key is pasted into a chat. Only Owners, Admins and Managers can connect. The risk is the write tools: in the full set they include deleting templates, unsubscribing profiles, requesting a profile's deletion and sending a campaign (Klaviyo, available tools). An agent that misreads "clean up my list" can do real damage.
Three settings cover it. Use ?read-only=true on a custom connector for reporting. Set every write tool to Needs approval in Claude. And treat anything customer-facing as a draft, which is what Klaviyo itself recommends (Klaviyo Help). The wider question is covered in our guide to connecting AI safely to a Shopify store.
Common errors and the fix
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| It won't connect | Your Klaviyo role is below Manager | Ask an Owner or Admin to raise your role, or to connect it |
| It still won't connect | A trailing slash or typo in the URL | Use https://mcp.klaviyo.com/mcp exactly, then restart the app |
read-only=true does nothing | You used the directory connector, which can't take URL settings | Remove it and add a custom connector with the parameter |
| Tools don't load on free Claude Desktop | Klaviyo warns its context window is very limited | Use read-only mode, switch on fewer tools, or use another client |
| Fewer tools in ChatGPT than in Claude | core-tools-only is on by default for ChatGPT | Expected. Set it to false on a custom MCP if you need more |
| Answers drift or mix up accounts | The chat kept old context | Start a new chat and name the account |
Where Anry fits
Klaviyo's MCP is the right tool for anything inside Klaviyo. Anry picks up once the email is clicked: it tracks that visitor through your store to the order, spots where sales slip away, and values each leak from your own orders. None of its tools can change anything, and you approve the fix your agent makes. If email is your main traffic and it mostly reaches repeat buyers, Klaviyo's own reports are probably enough.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Klaviyo MCP server URL?
https://mcp.klaviyo.com/mcp, with no trailing slash. Add ?read-only=true to switch write tools off. That only works on a custom connector, not the directory one.
Is the Klaviyo MCP free?
Klaviyo announced it for all Klaviyo customers and hasn't published a separate fee. You still need a Claude or ChatGPT plan, and a paid one to connect several Klaviyo accounts.
Can Claude send Klaviyo campaigns?
It can create campaigns and assign templates. Klaviyo's full tool list now includes send_campaign, though its help center described sending as a Q3 2026 rollout. Use read-only mode, or keep send tools on Needs approval, if you don't want that.
Can I connect more than one Klaviyo account?
Yes. Add one custom connector per account and name each one after the account, which is how Klaviyo tells agencies to do it.
Why doesn't Klaviyo revenue match my Shopify orders?
Klaviyo credits an order to the last email opened or clicked within its attribution window, 5 days by default, and counts automatic Apple Mail opens. Shopify counts orders. Both are right, they answer different questions.
