Every price above is the vendor's own listing, linked below. Convert, which sells A/B testing software, puts the typical one-time audit at $2,500 for a low-end agency, $3,500 on average and $4,500 at the premium end (Convert). That matches the middle of the table.

What the listings actually say

Few agencies publish audit prices. These do, as of October 2026.

Budget. Ecommerce Storez lists CRO work "starting at $99" on Shopify's Partner Directory (Shopify). cro.media lists a store audit at $299 to $3,999 there, delivered within 36 hours (Shopify). CRO Guru, a Shopify app, charges $199 once for an audit of your home, collection, product and cart pages, and says the suggestions come from GPT-4 (Shopify App Store). On Contra, Cole Brydson sells a $600 audit: a written report ranked by impact and effort, plus a 30-minute call, in 5 days (Contra).

Mid. Netalico charges $1,800 for a report with prioritized fixes, a checkout review and a roadmap, delivered in 5 to 10 business days. Building the fixes isn't included (Netalico). Shopify Growth Services sells a $2,000 audit of the pages you pick (Shopify Growth Services) and seven single-area audits (product page, cart and checkout, search and so on) at $3,000 each, all marked sold out when we checked (Shopify Growth Services). Shugert's CRO and technical SEO project runs $3,000 to $5,000 over 2 to 4 weeks and includes the theme changes (Shugert).

Premium. Baymard Institute publishes two prices. Its checkout audit costs $7,000 for desktop and mobile: a 40 to 50 page report with 15 to 20 suggestions, scored against 344 ecommerce sites (Baymard). Its mobile audit costs $10,900 for 35 suggestions in a 50 to 70 page report (Baymard). A full-site audit has no public price and takes about 15 to 25 business days (Baymard).

What drives the price

Who does the looking

An AI scan reads your pages against a checklist. A freelancer looks at your store for a few hours. An agency puts a strategist and a designer on it. Baymard compares you with years of usability research. The price follows the hours of a human, and the depth of what they compare you against.

How much of the store is covered

Narrow audits are priced per area. Shopify Growth Services charges per page type, and Baymard prices checkout and mobile separately. If your problem is clearly in one place, a single-area audit is cheaper than reviewing everything.

Whether anyone builds the fixes

This is the biggest hidden difference. Netalico's $1,800 is the report only, and implementation is a separate retainer. Shugert's $3,000 to $5,000 includes theme-level changes. Limely ships one fix for free as part of its pitch (Limely). Two audits at the same price can leave you with very different amounts of work.

Whether the audit is the start of a sale

Many agencies use the audit as the door to a monthly contract. Blend Commerce says its projects "typically start with a one-off CRO Audit and Insights Roadmap, followed by ongoing monthly optimisation" (Blend Commerce). Inflow wrote in 2022 that audits cost 150% to 300% of an agency's typical monthly fee (Inflow). A free audit is usually the cheapest version of that sale. That's fine, as long as you know it going in.

The real total cost

The invoice is the smallest part.

The fixes. A report with 35 suggestions is 35 tickets. Someone on your team, or a developer you pay, has to build them. Budget for that before you buy the report.

Your time. Access to analytics, a kickoff call, a review call, questions back and forth. Baymard includes up to a 2-hour presentation and follow-up calls, which is useful and also your afternoon.

The snapshot problem. An audit describes your store on the day it was done. New products, a new theme or a new ad campaign change the picture, and the report doesn't update. CRO tools that run on your store keep watching after the report is filed.

What a page audit can't see. Most audits review pages. They don't see who arrived on them. Our own home page shows the gap. On desktop, from 12 to 20 October 2026 (75 sessions), half of visitors got 1,900px down a 6,700px page, and a quarter made it past 4,200px. Of the 33 elements people clicked, 5 drew heavy clicking and 19 very little. That's what a good audit works from: where reading stops, which parts of the page get used. It says nothing about which ad sent those visitors or what each visit cost. When one of our Meta campaigns sent visitors who never scrolled at all, the fix was in Ads Manager, not on the page (what happened).

If you want to see where your own losses sit before paying anyone, how to find where your store is losing sales walks through it.

Is it worth it at your size?

A new store with few orders

Skip the paid audit for now. With a handful of orders a week, even a good report is guessing. Make sure the traffic is real and that you can buy on your own phone first. Why a store gets traffic but no sales gives the order to check things in. A $199 scan won't hurt, but treat it as a checklist, not a diagnosis.

A store with steady sales

This is where a $1,800 to $5,000 agency audit can pay for itself, if you'll actually build what it says. Ask three things before you buy: does it cover mobile and checkout, are the fixes included, and will they look at your traffic sources or only your pages. If checkout is the one place you suspect, Baymard's $7,000 checkout audit is narrow and deep.

An agency auditing client stores

Your clients already pay you for the review. What slows you down is gathering the data per store. Anry gives you one login across every client store, and you can query each one from Claude, Claude Code or Cursor before you write the report.

Where Anry fits

Anry does the part of an audit that's about evidence: which page, device or ad is losing sales, and what each one costs in the store's real orders. It doesn't redesign pages or write copy, and it doesn't run tests. You ask Anry, and the suggested fix goes to your own agent, which makes the change if you approve it.

You don't need Anry if your store has very few orders, or if you want a designer's opinion on your product page. A freelancer or a Baymard audit is the better buy there.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a CRO audit cost?

Most agency audits with a public price sit between $1,800 and $5,000 in October 2026. Gigs and AI scans cost $99 to $600, and Baymard's research-backed audits cost $7,000 to $10,900.

Is a free CRO audit worth it?

It can be, as long as you know it's a sales step. Agencies like Limely offer a free audit to qualifying stores and use it to show what a retainer would look like. You still get a list of fixes for nothing.

How long does a CRO audit take?

It depends on the depth. cro.media promises 36 hours, Contra's $600 audit takes 5 days, Netalico takes 5 to 10 business days, and a Baymard full-site audit takes about 15 to 25 business days.

What's included in a CRO audit?

Usually a report on your key pages (home, collection, product, cart, checkout) with suggestions ranked by impact, plus a call to walk through it. Fixes, testing and design work are often extra, so check before you pay.

Can AI do a CRO audit?

AI scans like CRO Guru will check your pages against a list of common problems for $199. They can't see who visits, which ad sent them or where orders drop, so they miss traffic problems entirely.

Should I get an audit before hiring a CRO agency?

Often, yes. An audit is a cheaper way to see how an agency thinks before you sign a monthly contract. What a CRO agency costs per month covers the next step.
